Australian USAR Canine Capability Best Practice Guidelines 2009
The Australian USAR Canine Capability Best Practice Guidelines were developed to ensure that the canine USAR capability developed within Australia was developed to a uniform set of guidelines. These guidelines set a minimum benchmark for the National capability for both the short and long term. The guidelines defined a standard into the short term, that whilst a basic or minimum standard, was comparable to that currently seen elsewhere in the region. The Guidelines also defined an advanced level capability that was seen as meeting international benchmarks for best practice, and it is this advanced level that Southern Cross Search Dogs has been active in promoting and developing, and one which the Organisation strives to achieve in support of USAR Task forces around Australia.
