I regretfully wish to inform the membership that last night our member Kelly lost her search dog Melrose. Melrose was tragically run over by a car whilst returning to Kelly's husband after briefly leaving the families property.
Melrose sufferd unrecoverable injuries to her spine and with a deep and heavy heart Kelly made the decision to have Melrose put to sleep. Needless to say Kelly and her family are devastated.
The South Australian membership want to wish Kelly and her family our deepest sympathies and reenforce that the SCSD family is in mourning and standing in support of Kelly and her family.
Moo, as she was affectionately called by her handler, was a delightful young girl who had a very unique outlook on life and had us scratching our heads at times :-). She had us all wrapped around her paws!!!
She was a beautiful example of a Swiss Shepherd and won many hearts in the group. She was affectionately known as a pup as Snow flake and as she natured became known as Snow Ball. That said she also earned the nick name Snow Storm on numerous occasions! Melrose and Kelly were in the early stages of their career and had shown much promise. Indeed Kelly's dedication to training and her beloved "Moo" was an excellent example to many.
In recent times Kelly had taken a brief pause in her training to breed Melrose and she had produced a wonderful litter of pups whom just recently have been placed in loving family homes.
Melrose will be sorely missed by us here in SCSD SA, and we hope that Kelly will be able to in time overcome her loss and remain involved with the Search Dog Community as well as make a return as a breeder of quality Swiss Shepherds with spunk and personality.
